RCB captain Faf du Plessis won the toss and chose to bowl first. PBKS managed to make 176/6 in 20 overs. Shikhar Dhawan made 45, while Jitesh Sharma (27), Shashank Singh (21* in 8), and Prabhsimran Singh (25) made valuable contributions as well.
In reply, Virat Kohli got a life in the first over itself but came back by hitting Curran for 4 fours in the opening over. While Faf du Plessis, Cameron Green, and Glenn Maxwell failed to come good, Kohli continued to power through. He got support from Rajat Patidar (18) and Anuj Rawat (11).
Kohli made 77 runs in 49 balls with 11 fours and 2 sixes to his name. This was his 51st IPL fifty and 100th half-century in T20 cricket. However, Harshal Patel removed Kohli when RCB needed him the most.
But then Dinesh Karthik and impact-sub Mahipal Lomror came together. Lomror made 17* in 8 balls with 2 fours and 1 six, while Karthik hammered 28* in 10 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes as RCB achieved the target in 19.2 overs and won the match by 4 wickets.
Virat Kohli was named the Player of the Match for his brilliant 77.
The cricket fraternity lauded him on social media for his match-winning knock and also praised Dinesh Karthik for his finishing abilities.
