Despite starting their IPL 2024 campaign with a narrow loss against Gujarat Titans (GT) on March 24, Mumbai Indians (MI) remained upbeat as their former captain, Rohit Sharma, led the team's Holi celebrations on Monday (March 25).

MI shared a video on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), showing Rohit joyfully spraying water from a pipe with his face covered in colourful hues.

Rohit also shared a post on Instagram while celebrating the festival of colors. “Thoda rang, Thoda maza,” he wrote in the caption.

A video of MI skipper Hardik Pandya also went viral on social media, in which he hugged Rohit Sharma's wife Ritika Sajdeh and greeted his daughter while wishing them.

Notably, Pandya's first assignment as the captain of Mumbai Indians (MI) saw him taking on his former side Gujarat Titans (GT) in Ahmedabad on Sunday (March 24).

The all-rounder was traded during the off-season from GT to MI for a hefty sum of INR 15 Crore. Soon after the trade, he replaced Rohit Sharma as the skipper of the side.

On his return to the Narendra Modi Stadium, Hardik didn’t enjoy the best of time as he was at the receiving end of crowd hostility. Moreover, MI lost the match by a narrow margin of 6 runs.

Chasing 169 to win, the five-time champions were cruising when Rohit Sharma (43) and Dewald Brevis (46) were batting together. However, their dismissals in quick succession triggered a collapse as MI’s innings ended at 162/9 in 20 overs.

Mumbai Indians’ next match is scheduled against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Wednesday (March 27).
