The reason was that the IPL 2024 is clashing with the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in the country. Despite speculations that the BCCI might move the tournament out of India for the second half, BCCI secretary Jay Shah refuted the claims.

And now it has been confirmed that all 74 matches have been scheduled in India, with the business end of the competition in Ahmedabad and Chennai.

Ahmedabad and Chennai have been chosen as the play-off venues, as expected. The Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans, last year's finalists, have chosen their home sites for the playoffs, with the final being held in Chennai, the city of champions. It also hosted the inaugural match of the season.
