MI lost to GT by 6 runs in Hardik Pandya's debut as captain.
Mumbai Indians suffered a 6-run loss to GT in the match. GT posted 168/6 in 20 overs after being asked to bat first by new MI captain Hardik Pandya. Sai Sudharsan top-scored with 45, while new GT captain Shubman Gill made 35 runs. Jasprit Bumrah took 3/14, while Gerald Coetzee took two wickets for MI.
In response, Rohit Sharma made 43 and Dewald Brevis made 46 runs to set up the win for MI, but the middle order and lower-order failed to take MI past the finish line. Hardik Pandya made 11 runs in 4 balls, but MI could only manage 162/9 and lost by 6 runs.
The atmosphere was high-octane in the match as Hardik Pandya was booed loudly by the crowd in the stadium when he came out for toss. Then Hardik was seen instructing Rohit Sharma to change his position in a seemingly rude manner.
However, one of the most interesting moments happened off the field. A brawl broke out amongst the fans in one of the stands and the video of the same went viral. Many X users who shared the video claimed that it was a fight between fans of Hardik Pandya and Rohit Sharma.
