The must-win IPL 2023 match between the Mumbai Indians (MI) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) took place at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on May 21, and Cameron Green was the star of the show.

Rohit Sharma, the captain of MI, had good fortune on his side when he won the toss and decided to bowl first. Hrithik Shokeen made way for Kumar Karthikeya as MI made one alteration. Kartik Tyagi and Umran Malik were added to the starting XI in addition to the other changes done by SRH.

The SRH team got off to a fantastic start thanks to openers Vivrant Sharma and Mayank Agarwal, who both scored half-centuries and added 140 for the first wicket in just 14 overs. Akash Madhwal dismissed both of them with Vivrant making 69 runs off 47 balls, including 9 fours and 2 sixes.

Mayank fell for 83 in 46 balls with 8 fours and 4 sixes. Though it looked as if SRH would put up a big total, Madhwal (4/37) also dismissed dangerous Heinrich Klaasen (5) and Harry Brook (0) in consecutive balls to keep their total to 200/5 in 20 overs.

In the chase, Ishan Kishan fell early for 14 runs, but then Rohit Sharma and Cameron Green added 128 runs for the second wicket as SRH bowlers didn’t have any idea about how to counter them.

Rohit fell for 56 with 8 fours and 1 six, but Cameron Green continued and hammered 100* his maiden T20 and IPL hundred, which came in 47 balls with 8 fours and 8 sixes. Suryakumar made 25* as MI won the match by 8 wickets in 18 overs.

MI kept their hopes of playoffs alive as they finish with 16 points and an NRR of -0.044.

The cricket fraternity was all praises for MI batter Cameron Green whose maiden ton helped his team win big.
