MS Dhoni has captained CSK to 4 IPL titles- 2010, 2011, 2018 and 2021.
MS Dhoni led his team in a lap of honor after Chennai Super Kings were defeated by Kolkata Knight Riders in their final home game of the current IPL season at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. Him leading the thank you to the Chennai crowd might be yet another clue that he won't play in another iteration of the T20 competition.
Although Dhoni himself hasn't stated anything as of yet, the consensus is that he won't be seen playing again in the yellow CSK shirt.
"I think MSD has given enough hints that this is his last IPL. He's keeping the world guessing and that's been his nature. But I have this intuition that Dhoni will not be playing the IPL next year," said Mohammad Kaif on Star Sports' Cricket Live.
On Sunday, after Dhoni and CSK completed the lap of honor around the Chepauk, batting great Sunil Gavaskar approached the CSK skipper and got an autograph for his shirt.
"We have never seen Sunny sir taking an autograph of any other cricketer. A great like Sunil Gavaskar taking the autograph on his shirt from Dhoni just tells the greatness of MS Dhoni," said Kaif.
On the brink of playoff qualification, CSK still need a win to be sure of their spot in IPL 2023 knockouts. They next take on Delhi Capitals in their last league game of the season.
