Rohit Sharma now has the most ducks in IPL- 16.
The two teams had previously met on April 8th at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai and CSK prevailed by 7 wickets.
However, MI now visited Chennai to seek revenge for that loss after defeating Punjab Kings by 6 wickets despite chasing 215 to win in their last encounter.
CSK skipper MS Dhoni won the toss at Chepauk and chose to bowl first and said that CSK was unchanged. MI, on the other hand, made one change as Tilak Varma missed out due to a niggle and Tristan Stubbs came into the XI.
MI opened with Ishan Kishan and Cameron Green and lost their wickets quickly as Tushar Deshpande and Deepak Chahar dismissed them for 6 and 7 respectively. Rohit Sharma, who had scored a duck against PBKS came down the order at no.3.
However, the clever MS Dhoni plotted his dismissal well as he came up to the stumps when Chahar was bowling and, in an attempt, to take advantage of the same, Rohit played a false shot.
This resulted in the ball missing his bat and instead took his glove and plopped to the point where Ravindra Jadeja took an easy catch, sending the MI skipper back for a duck.
This was Rohit’s 16th duck in IPL and he now has the most scores of zero in IPL history.
