Dhruv Jurel has been a revelation for RR as a finisher.
On Thursday, Jurel helped RR post a daunting total of 202 on the board against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Jaipur, by making 34 runs in just 15 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes to his name. While Yashasvi Jaiswal grabbed the headlines with his swashbuckling half-century, Dhruv Jurel also made a significant contribution.
Dhruv Jurel, who has caught the eye this season with a few quickfire cameos, played another explosive innings against the four-time champions.
Speaking to the media after the match, Jurel revealed that he gets motivated by CSK's iconic skipper MS Dhoni, whenever he is on the field. He even said that with MS sitting right behind him at the stumps, he feels motivated to do well.
Following the match, Dhoni praised Jurel for his cameo.
“I’m fortunate enough to share the field with MS Dhoni. I have always dreamt of it. I don’t feel the pressure, I feel motivated. He’s behind me, he’s watching me, that’s enough for me. My mantra is to bat and rest will take care of itself. I just played the situation. I’ve done three-four hours of batting every day. I make sure I’m getting something from my batting,” Jurel said.
“I try to keep the game simple. I know I can hit everywhere. Even if I play 6-7 balls, I know I can get big hits and change the game. This is a spot which was given by the management so I practice like that. It doesn’t feel like if I’m getting runs or I have fewer balls, I’ve to score big runs, it doesn’t matter,” he added.
CSK will next face Punjab Kings at home in Chennai.
