CSK chased down MI's total of 157 with 11 deliveries to spare.
Invited to bat first, MI posted 157/7 on the board with notable contributions from Ishan Kishan (32), Tim David (31), and Tilak Varma (22).
Ravindra Jadeja starred with the ball for CSK, claiming three wickets by conceding 20 runs in his four overs. Mitchell Santner (2-28) and Tushar Deshpande (2-31) also returned with a couple of scalps.
In reply, CSK lost Devon Conway in the very first over for a duck but Ajinkya Rahane took the MI attack to the cleaners while batting at No. 3.
Rahane slammed a half-century in just 19 balls – the fastest of this year’s IPL so far – and added 82 runs for the second wicket with Ruturaj Gaikwad. Piyush Chawla broke the stand by dismissing Rahane on 61 off 27 balls (7 fours and 3 sixes) but Gaikwad held the one firmly.
The CSK opener stayed unbeaten on 40 off 36 balls and forged vital partnerships with Shivam Dube (28) and Ambati Rayudu (20*) to take the visitors over the line in 18.1 overs.
For his dazzling batting display in CSK’s victory, Ajinkya Rahane received rich praise from the cricket fraternity on Twitter.
