Buttler and Jaiswal hit half-centuries and Boult and Chahal picked 3 wickets each.
DC captain David Warner won the toss and chose to field first. His decision kind of backfired as Yashasvi Jaiswal (60 in 31) and Jos Buttler (79 in 51) hammered the DC bowlers all over the park as they added 98 runs for the first wicket in 8.3 overs.
Then Shimron Hetmyer took over and scored 39* in 21 balls as RR finished on 199/4 in 20 overs. For DC, Mukesh Kumar picked two wickets.
In reply, Trent Boult jolted the DC batters removing Prithvi Shaw and Manish Pandey for a duck each in consecutive balls in the first over of the innings. Then David Warner and Lalit Yadav (38) tried to get DC back in the game.
But Boult removed Lalit after R Ashwin had gotten Rilee Russouw out for 14 and then Yuzvendra Chahal got rid of vice-captain Akshar Patel for 2 runs. Ashwin also struck again as he dismissed the dangerous Rovman Powell for just 2 runs.
In the end, Warner got out for 65 in 55 balls and DC finished on 142/9, losing the match by 57 runs. For RR, Trent Boult took 3/29, Yuzvendra Chahal took 3/27 and R Ashwin took 2/25.
DC will next face MI at home on April 11 and RR takes on CSK in Chennai on April 12.
