The 65th match of the IPL 2022 will see Mumbai Indians (MI) clashing with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on May 17, 2022. While MI is out of the playoffs race, SRH still has a chance as they need to win both of their remaining matches.

MI bowled out Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for 97 in their last match, winning it comfortably and SRH lost to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their last match. SRH is placed 8th on the points table with 5 wins in 12 matches with 10 points.

Keeping this in mind, here is the COC predicted playing XIs for the MI v SRH match.

MUMBAI INDIANS

MI have nothing to lose in this match as they are already out of the race for the playoffs. Their last match against CSK saw them bowling the MS Dhoni-led team out for 97 and winning it by 5 wickets. Kieron Pollard sat out of the match, which was on his birthday and Tristan Stubbs made his IPL debut.

Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma have not hit that next gear despite getting some starts, and apart from Suryakumar Yadav, who is out with an injury, young Tilak Varma has impressed the most, being the top scorer for MI in IPL 2022.

Given now is the time for giving young players a chance, MI might get in Dewald Brevis as well. Daniel Sams and Riley Meredith have done well with the ball, while Jasprit Bumrah has blown hot and cold.

Kumar Karthikeya and Hrithik Shokeen have impressed in the opportunities he got, while MI missed a chance by not giving Tim David a longer run in the tournament.

SUNRISERS HYDERABAD

SRH have themselves to blame as they lost their first two matches in IPL 2022 and then won their next five encounters looking set to qualify for the playoffs. However, the good work was undone as they lost their next five matches in a row and now find themselves on brink of elimination with 5 wins in 12 matches.

Much of the blame falls on captain Kane Williamson, who has not gotten going in the powerplay, putting pressure on other batters. Abhishek Sharma has impressed, while Rahul Tripathi should have been opening the innings from the get-go.

Aiden Markram and Nicholas Pooran have been a hit or miss in the tournament. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, T Natarajan, and Umran Malik have been highly impressive with the ball, but the batters have let them down.

They need to win this match and their next match to remain in contention for the playoffs.
