Umran Malik's blistering pace and ability to take wickets have made him the buzz of IPL 2022.

Following a daft set-up against Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Shreyas Iyer earlier in the week, the 22-year-old took IPL 2022 by storm with a triple-wicket maiden in the 20th over of the match against Punjab Kings, putting him among Lasith Malinga and Irfan Pathan on the elite list.

Now Umran has set his sights on the prized wicket of an Indian batting legend as his team prepares for their next match.

Sunrisers Hyderabad will meet Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Brabourne Stadium on April 23, and Umran has his sights set on former RCB captain Virat Kohli's prized scalp.

Umran told Sports Today on Tuesday that he tried hard to get KL Rahul out in the match against the Lucknow Super Giants and now wants to get Kohli out.

“KL Rahul was one. We had a match against them. I really wanted to get him out. But next match we have against RCB so I want to get Virat Kohli out. I'm a big fan of both of them,” he said.

This will be Umran's first encounter with Kohli in any form of cricket, but he spoke about his conversation with the 33-year-old and the advice he provided him in an interview last month.

“Virat Kohli spoke to me and told me to work on my bowling and fitness. He told me to work hard and once you do that the India cap is not too far away. He said I will get my chance when the time comes,” Malik had told india.com.
