Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) beat Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 7 wickets in the 25th match of the ongoing IPL 2022 on Friday (April 15) at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai.

After winning the toss, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) decided to bowl first and they managed to restrict Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to 175/8, thanks to T Natarajan (3/37) and Umran Malik’s (2/27) stunning performances with the ball on Friday.

Andre Russell (49*) and Nitish Rana (54) were the highest run-scorers for KKR against SRH.

Chasing 176 for victory, Pat Cummins removed Abhishek Sharma for just 3 in the second over, but then Rahul Tripathi (71 off 37 balls) and Aiden Markram (68* off 36 balls) played blistering knocks to guide SRH to a 7-wicket win over KKR in just 17.5 overs at the Brabourne Stadium.

After SRH’s third straight win in the ongoing IPL 2022, captain Kane Williamson lauded his team for their fantastic performance against KKR. They won all their last three matches in the tournament.

Williamson said in the post-match presentation ceremony: “It was a step up. With the ball to take early wickets against Kolkata, who keep coming at us, helped us. Our death bowling was superb. To go out there and chase it with Rahul and Markram playing so well. All in all a fantastic performance.”

The skipper further said that both Marco Jansen (1/26) and Markram are big players for SRH.

He concluded, “Marco with his bouncers and with the new ball is key. Umran is unique that he touches the 150 mark. He goes for four on many occasions which is not ideal but he is always looking to improve. There are little things to improve on. The guys are working hard and good to see the improvement.”

Notably, SRH is now in the seventh spot in the IPL 2022 points table with three wins in five matches and they will next face Punjab Kings (PBKS) on April 17.
