Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) registered a convincing 7-wicket victory over Mumbai Indians (MI) in Pune to move to third spot on the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 points table on Saturday (April 9).

RCB captain Faf du Plessis won the toss and elected to bowl first and his bowlers responded brilliantly to his decision as they reduced MI to 79/6 in the 14th over before Suryakumar Yadav (68*) added an unbroken stand of 72 with Jaydev Unadkat for the seventh wicket to help his team set a target of 152. Harshal Patel and Wanindu Hasaranga grabbed two wickets each for RCB.

In reply, Du Plessis departed for 16 but Anuj Rawat (66) and Virat Kohli (48) batted really well to all but seal the chase for their team before Glenn Maxwell hit the winning runs in the 19th over as MI suffered their fourth consecutive defeat in the ongoing tournament.

Kohli, who has been searching for some of his best form with the bat lately, looked in much better touch tonight before young Dewald Brevis dismissed him leg-before-wicket for 48 off 36 balls.

The onfield decision went in Brevis' favour as Kohli opted to take the DRS review immediately. The third umpire Ulhas Gandhe had a look at few angles and the ultraedge before deciding to stick to the onfield decision as he felt the ball hit Kohli's bat and pad simultaneously.

The 33-year-old had no option but to walk back to the pavilion but he couldn't control his emotions as he wanted to take his side home by remaining not out. He was visibly livid with the decision and kept muttering to himself before entering the RCB dressing room.

Kohli's fans weren't too impressed either by the decision as there was quite a bit of doubt involved. Here are some of the reactions as well as video footage of how the whole event transpired:
