Royals Challengers Bangalore (RCB) continued their fine show in the ongoing IPL as they defeated Mumbai Indians (MI) by seven wickets at the MCA Stadium in Pune on Saturday (April 9).

Invited to bat first, MI rode on Suryakumar Yadav’s unbeaten 68 off 37 balls to post a highly competitive 151/6 in their 20 overs.

Harshal Patel (2-23) and Wanindu Hasaranga (2-28) starred with the ball for RCB as both of them bowled economically and picked two scalps each. Akash Deep also returned with impressive figures of 1 for 20 in his four overs.

In reply, the Bangalore-based franchise overhauled the target with 9 balls to spare. Opener Anuj Rawat was the top scorer with 47-ball 66 while former skipper Virat Kohli played a significant knock of 48 in 36 balls. The pair stitched a match-winning stand of 80 runs for the second wicket.

Rawat and Kohli may have got out on the brink of victory, they had already done their job. In the end, the duo of Dinesh Karthik (7*) and Glenn Maxwell (8*) took the team over the line comfortably.

For their clinical performance with the bat and ball, Faf du Plessis received rich praise from the cricket fraternity on Twitter.
