Mumbai Indians (MI)'s young batting sensation Tilak Varma impressed many with his batting in an IPL 2022 encounter against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Saturday (2nd April).

After MI lost two quick wickets in Rohit Sharma and Anmolpreet Singh while chasing the mammoth target of 194 runs, Tilak joined hands with Ishan Kishan, who scored 54 runs. The southpaws stitched an important 80-run partnership to resurrect their side’s innings.

Batting at No.4, Tilak scored a masterful 61 runs and kept his side in the hunt after a sloppy start. His six-hitting ability was one of the main highlights of his batting. The 19-year-old scored as many as 5 sixes and also smashed three boundaries.

During his innings, he hit one six that landed straight on the head of the cameraman, who quickly got up after the blow. Trent Boult, who was fielding there also checked upon him.

Coming to the match, Varma’s knock went in vain as MI failed to chase the target despite a sensational partnership in the middle. In the end, RR bowlers didn’t allow Kieron Pollard (22) to free his arms and kept things tight to complete a comfortable 23-run victory and earn the top spot on the points table.

Mumbai Indians will next face Kolkata Knight Riders on 6th April at MCA Stadium in Pune. They would be eager to open their account and league.
