Batter Suryakumar Yadav has joined the Mumbai Indians' (MI) camp ahead of their second game of the IPL 2022 against the Rajasthan Royals (RR), which will be played on April 2nd.

The Mumbai Indians (MI) vs. Rajasthan Royals (RR) clash will be held at Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy, Navi Mumbai on Saturday.

Suryakumar missed MI’s opening match against Delhi Capitals (DC) as he was recovering from a broken thumb. MI lost their IPL 2022 season opener to DC by 4 wickets on March 27.

Notably, Suryakumar was undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru after his thumb injury during the home series against West Indies last month.

However, the star batter has now recovered from his finger injury and was seen having some fun time with his teammates and former MI teammates Lasith Malinga, who is currently RR’s bowling coach, in Mumbai on March 31.

The franchise has confirmed that Suryakumar joined the MI camp on Thursday.

MI said in a statement: “Suryakumar Yadav exited his mandatory quarantine and joined the team (on Wednesday) for the gym session in the company of his mates Kieron Pollard, Ishan Kishan, and Jasprit Bumrah... The mood in the camp is upbeat.”

The statement further reads: “The team underwent a strength and conditioning session yesterday under the watchful eyes of Paul Chapman. The session involved weight and fitness training, with the focus on working on core fitness and building strength.”

MI also shared a picture of Suryakumar joining the MI camp ahead of the RR clash, as well as a short clip on Twitter, where he was seen surprising Malinga during a training session.
