The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) played their first game of the IPL 2022 under the new captain Faf du Plessis, against Mayank Agarwal, who was leading the Punjab Kings (PBKS) for the first time in a full-time capacity on March 27 in DY Patil Stadium.

This was also the first season in a decade that AB de Villiers was not part of the RCB franchise, having called time on his cricketing career after the IPL 2021 edition.

However, the fans of the red army were reminded of the mercurial batter, when they saw the same kind of a bromance between Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis.
