Skipper Faf du Plessis slammed 88 off 57 balls on his RCB debut.
Playing his first game as RCB skipper, Du Plessis wreaked havoc on Punjab bowlers after taking a bit of time to get set. He forged a 50-run stand for the opening wicket with Anuj Rawat, who scored 20-ball 21.
After Rawat’s dismissal, Du Plessis joined hands with his predecessor Virat Kohli and the duo tore apart the Punjab attack with a 118-run partnership. In particular, the RCB captain was severe on the PBKS bowlers and he completed his half-century off 41 balls.
After reaching the fifty, Faf du Plessis went bizarre as he hit a flurry of boundaries in quick succession. Du Plessis was dismissed in the 18th over by Arshdeep Singh but not before he scored 88 off 57 balls, including 3 fours and 7 sixes.
Faf du Plessis’s wicket led to Dinesh Karthik’s arrival in the middle and the latter played a brutal cameo of 14-ball 32* (3 fours and 3 sixes) to take RCB to a massive 205/2 in 20 overs. Kohli also played the role of second fiddle perfectly and stayed unbeaten on 41 off 29 balls.
Cricket experts on Twitter lauded the RCB batters for their stunning performance led by Faf du Plessis.
