IPL 2022: Ireland pacer Josh Little to join CSK camp as net bowler

CSK will play KKR in the first match of IPL 2022 on March 26.

Josh Little, the Ireland left-arm pacer, will join Chennai Super Kings (CSK) as a net bowler for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL 2022) season.

The IPL 2022 schedule was released by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Sunday. In total, 70 league games and four playoff games will be played over the course of 65 days.

The 15th season will kick off on March 26 at Wankhede Stadium with a high-profile match between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

Cricket Ireland confirmed the news of Josh Little joining the four-time and current defending champions CSK as a net bowler. The board congratulated Little for securing a spot in the CSK set-up, and wished him all the best.

"Congrats to Josh Little who is heading off on a development opportunity with the Chennai Super Kings in the early stages of the upcoming IPL. The experience as a net bowler for CSK should be fantastic," Cricket Ireland tweeted.

Little, 22, made his international debut for Ireland in September 2016 in a T20I against Hong Kong; but failed to get a wicket. However, he was more impressive in his first ODI appearance, where he picked up four wickets against England, including the dismissal of captain Eoin Morgan. His figures read 8-0-45-4.

So far, Little has taken 30 wickets in ODIs and 31 wickets in T20Is. In his last 10 T20Is, he has taken 13 wickets, with best figures of 4-23.

There will be a total of 12 doubleheaders in IPL 2022, with the first match beginning at 3:30 p.m. IST. All evening matches will begin at 7:30 p.m. IST.

On May 22, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Punjab Kings will play the final game of the league stage at Wankhede Stadium. Later, the schedule for the Playoffs and the IPL 2022 final, which will take place on May 29, will be released.
