Warner was bought for INR 6.25 crores and Marsh for INR 6.50 crores.
The Australian duo of David Warner and Mitchell Marsh on Saturday (12th February) said that they are excited to be part of the Delhi Capitals (DC) for the IPL 2022.
Delhi Capitals had a great outing on Day 1 of the IPL 2022 auction in Bengaluru. The Rishabh Pant-led franchise spent INR 34.5 crores and bought a total of nine players to strengthen their side.
Among those nine players, the T20 World Cup 2021 winning duo of David Warner and Mitchell Marsh was also roped in by Delhi Capitals. While the Australian opener was acquired for INR 6.25 crores, the all-rounder was bought for ₹6.50 crore.

Delhi Capitals’ Co-owner Parth Jindal said that he cannot believe that they got David Warner for just INR 6.25 crores. He remarked that with southpaw and Prithvi Shaw opening the batting, it’ll be an explosive start for their team. He further expressed his excitement in having Australian batter back in their side.
“Absolutely Excited to buy David Warner. I cannot believe that we got such a legend at Rs 6.25 crore. With Warner and Prithvi Shaw opening the batting, it will be an explosive start to every single Delhi Capitals innings. It was really strange because we thought the price will go up.
“There was a lot of tactical stuff going on by the other teams. David Warner, the guy who won Australia the T20 World Cup is back in Delhi. We welcome Davey, and all his Insta stories and his shenanigans to the Capitals. We cannot wait to have him at the Capitals,” Parth Jindal said.
Expressing his excitement to join Delhi Capitals, David Warner said that he’s looking forward to playing for the team where it all started for him. He had made his IPL debut for then Delhi Daredevils (now Capitals) in 2009.
"I am coming back to where it all started. I am really excited. Can't wait to see you all very soon over in India. Looking forward to it,” David Warner said.
After being picked by the franchise, Mitchell Marsh said that he’s ‘stoked’ to be a part of the Delhi Capitals and is looking forward to representing the team.

David Warner has been a prolific run-getter in IPL. The southpaw has scored 5449 runs in 150 matches at an average of 41.59 to go with 4 tons and 50 half-centuries to his name.
On the other hand, Mitchell Marsh of late has been in red-hot form with the bat. The all-rounder was the main one of the main architect behind Austalia’s T20 World Cup-winning triumph. He also scored 347 runs in 8 games at an average of 57.83 in BBL 2021-22.
Apart from Warner and Marsh, DC picked Shardul Thakur (₹10.75 crores), Kuldeep Yadav (₹2 crores), Mustafizur Rahman (₹2 crores), KS Bharat (₹2 crores), K Nagarkoti (₹1.1 crores), Sarfaraz Khan (₹20 lakhs) and Ashwin Hebbar (₹20 lakhs).
They had retained Rishabh Pant, Akshar Patel, Prithvi Shaw and Anrich Nortje. They will enter Day 2 of the IPL 2022 auction with a purse of INR 16.5 crores.
