The IPL 2022 auction went underway in Bengaluru, as the first day of the two-day event began on February 12, 2022. More than 590 players are slated to go under the hammer with two new franchises, Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans, making their first appearance in the auction.

The marquee set of players saw Shreyas Iyer getting the biggest bid from Kolkata Knight Riders at INR 12.25 crs. Kagiso Rabada for an INR 9.25 cr bid from Punjab Kings, who also got Shikhar Dhawan for INR 8.25 crs.

Ishan Kishan and Nicholas Pooran broke the bank in the wicketkeepers set as Kishan went to Mumbai Indians for INR 15.25 crores, while Pooran was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) for INR 10.75 crores.

The next set up for sale in the IPL 2022 auction was that of the capped fast bowlers featuring Deepak Chahar, Lockie Ferguson, Josh Hazlewood, Prasidh Krishna, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, T Natarajan, Mustafizur Rahman, Shardul Thakur, Mark Wood, and Umesh Yadav.
