Rajasthan Royals (RR) made an interesting acquisition in the IPL 2022 auction when they paid Rs 5 crores for seasoned Indian off-spinner R Ashwin.

Ashwin had sparked controversy in the IPL 2019 when he mankaded RR's player Jos Buttler while leading Punjab Kings, and it remains one of the most talked-about bids in the IPL 2022 mega auction.

According to a report, the Rajasthan Royals team management had a discussion with Jos Buttler before going all out for R Ashwin in the IPL 2022 mega auction.

"We spoke to Jos prior to the auction and talked through all our prioritization of players. Obviously, he did not even think about it. I had to bring it up and he was absolutely fine with it. On the field, they are looking forward to playing together," RR CEO Jake Lush McCrum quoted as saying by Sportstar.

Former Punjab Kings Virender Sehwag expressed his desire to see Ashwin plan a mankad with Buttler. "Haha Ashwin to Rajasthan. Will love him plotting a Mankad with Buttler," Sehwag tweeted.

"Ashwin and Buttler in the same team. No more discussions about the mythical ‘Spirit of the game’," tweeted Aakash Chopra.

Meanwhile, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) bought former Delhi Capitals (DC) captain Shreyas Iyer for Rs 12.25 crores.
