IPL 2022: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) - list of retained players

KKR retained four players ahead of the auction.

November 30th saw the final announcement of retained players by each of the original eight franchises in the Indian Premier League (IPL) ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction. Two new teams will make their debut as well, making the upcoming IPL edition a 10-team competition.

As per BCCI rules, each team is allowed to retain a maximum of four players. These can be in two different combinations while picking their four players to retain: three Indians and one overseas, or two Indians and two overseas. The three Indians retained by franchises can all be capped, all uncapped or a mix of both.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), the IPL winners in 2012 and 2014, made an amazing comeback in the IPL 2021 season, as they reached the finals of the tournament from being in the bottom half of the points table when the second half of the tournament began in UAE. 

KKR retained four players in total including both of their Caribbean stars. Their retentions were Andre Russell (INR 12crores), Varun Chakravarthy (INR 8 crores), Venkatesh Iyer (INR 8 crores) and Sunil Narine for INR 6 crores. 

With four players retained, KKR will have INR 48 crores to spend in IPL 2022 auction.
