CSK was asked to bat first by Eoin Morgan of KKR who won the toss.
Amidst deafening noise in Dubai, KKR captain Eoin Morgan won the toss and decided to field first. No changes were made to the playing XIs of both teams. This meant no Andre Russell for KKR and on Suresh Raina for CSK.
The openers Ruturaj Gaikwad and Faf du Plessis added 61 runs in 8.1 overs for CSK at the start. Gaikwad fell to Narine for 32. Robin Uthappa then played a quick knock of 31 in 15 balls with 3 sixes to his name, before Narine got him LBW.
Moeen Ali then joined Du Plessis and carnage ensued in the last 5 overs or so as they added 68 runs for the third wicket.
Ali remained unbeaten on 37 in 20 balls with 3 sixes and 2 fours, while Faf du Plessis got out on the last ball of the innings on 86 which came in 59 balls with 3 sixes and 7 fours to his name.
CSK ended on 192/3 in 20 overs. For KKR, Narine with 2/26 was their best bowler.
The Cricket fraternity was in awe of Du Plessis’ innings which has put CSK in a position of advantage and lauded him on Twitter.
