Akash Ambani said he's not going to look back at this season with too much regret.
Mumbai Indians (MI) couldn't continue their winning run as they crashed out of the IPL 2021 after finishing 5th in the points table. They had won the IPL 2019 and 2020 and were the favorites to win the ongoing edition as well.
Mumbai won 7 matches in 14 matches, equal to Kolkata Knight Riders, but they had a comparatively poorer net run-rate which pushed them out of the top four.
They had to defeat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 170 runs in their last league match to seal a place in the playoffs, but they could only win by 42 runs.
After getting knocked out, MI owner Akash Ambani said he does not have too much regret about how this season went as the team had done a great job in this cycle (2018-2021).

The official social media account of MI posted a video in which Akash was having an interaction with his players. "We will definitely remember this cycle as the most successful cycle of MI in the history of Vivo IPL.
"Winning back-to-back trophies in four years is no mean feat. We know what it takes to be consistent over the next 30-35 matches. And even this season, I am not going to look back at it with too much regret because we have been a very very successful franchise," he said.
Mumbai Indians are the only franchise to win 5 IPL titles and this was the only odd year when they couldn't win the tournament after lifting their first title in 2013. They have won IPL 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020.
"Thanks a lot for everything that you all have contributed to MI. It's been an honor to have you all as a group of players and the support team too. It really does feel like a family. No matter what the future holds for each and every one of you, the family aspect of remaining with MI will always remain," Akash said.
