The Mumbai Indians (MI) is one of the most successful teams in IPL history with five titles to their name. Even though they failed to qualify for the playoffs this year (IPL 2021), MI showed a great fight at the back end of the ongoing UAE-leg of IPL 2021.

The five-time champions were lauded by many for the kind of team they built which definitely served them well over the years. But, with a mega auction lined up ahead of IPL 2022, no other franchise will be more disappointed than MI to see their team getting dismantled.

Since two more teams will be added to IPL from next year, all the existing franchisees will be allowed to retain or have the option to 'right to match' (RTM) a few players in the auction in the mega auction next year.

Thus, the former India cricketer Aakash Chopra while speaking in his latest YouTube video suggested the Mumbai-based franchise retain current skipper Rohit Sharma and a fantastic pacer in Jasprit Bumrah at any cost.

The two obvious names Mumbai Indians should retain are Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah. You can also think of Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, and Kieron Pollard. However, Sharma and Bumrah should be the two biggest retentions as franchises can only keep a couple of players ahead of the mega auction,Chopra said in his YouTube video.

Even though there is still no official confirmation from the IPL governing council and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) about the number of players that can be retained by the existing franchises, an official confirmation is expected after the conclusion of the ongoing IPL 2021.
