MI restricted RR to 90/9 and chased down the target with 70 balls to spare.
Asked to bat first, RR could only manage a paltry 90/9 in their allotted 20 overs. It was a tough pitch to bat on and Rajasthan betters were found wanting. Evin Lewis was the top scorer with 19-ball 24.
For MI, Nathan Coulter-Nile (4-14) bagged a four-wicket haul while Jimmy Neesham (3-12) and Jasprit Bumrah (2-14) claimed three and two scalps respectively.
In reply, the defending champions rode on Ishan Kishan’s blazing 50 not out off 25 balls to overhaul the target with eight wickets in hand and 70 balls to spare.
With this victory, Mumbai moved to the fifth spot on the points table and they are still very much in the contention to qualify for the playoffs.
For their flawless outing against the Royals, Rohit Sharma and company received rich praise from the cricket fraternity on Twitter.
