IPL 2021: Delhi Capitals go to top of points table after a comfortable 33-run win over Rajasthan Royals

DC now have 16 points from 8 wins in 10 matches.

The 36th match of the IPL 2021 between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Rajasthan Royals saw the Rishabh Pant-led side beat Sanju Samson and co by 33 runs and go to the top of the points table with 16 points and 8 wins in 10 matches.

Sanju Samson won the toss and chose to bowl first in Abu Dhabi.

For Delhi Capitals the pitch proved to be a bit difficult to have a flowing innings get going as Shreyas Iyer (43), Shimron Hetmyer (28) and Rishabh Pant (24) were the top-scorers as the last year’s finalists made 154/6 in 20 overs.

Mustafizur Rahman (2/22) and Chetan Sakariya (2/33) were the picks of RR bowlers on a pitch where their pace variations came in handy.

RR was not fortunate in getting a decent start as Liam Livingstone, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and David Miller were all dismissed for single-digit scores. Skipper Sanju Samson with 70* in 43 balls with 8 fours and 1 six was the standout batsman as RR only managed 121/6 in 20 overs. Mahipal Lomror with 19 was the only other batter to reach double figures, making 19 runs.

Anrich Nortje starred again with 2/18 in his 4 overs, as DC won the match by 33 runs and went to the top of the points table with 16 points.
