Spectators were allowed in stadiums as IPL 2021 resumed from September 19 in UAE.
The 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2021) was suspended earlier this year owing to COVID-19 conditions across India and was then shifted to UAE, where it resumed on September 19 onwards.
With COVID-19 cases falling in the middle east, a limited number of spectators were allowed to enter the stadium and witness the IPL 2021 games live.
However, this hasn't gone down well with the Taliban, which has warned the Afghanistan media outlets to not broadcast the UAE-leg of IPL 2021 citing the presence of female audiences and spectators in stadiums.
“Ridiculous: Taliban have banned the broadcasting of Indian Premier League (IPL) in Afghanistan. Taliban have warned that Afghan media outlets should not broadcast the Indian Cricket League due to girls dancing and the presence of the female audience and spectators in stadiums,” Afghanistan journalist, Fawad Aman, said in a tweet.

Taliban have warned that Afghan media outlets should not broadcast the Indian Cricket League due to girls dancing and the presence of female audience and spectators in stadiums.
Even though the Taliban has allowed the Afghanistan men's cricket team to play, they have banned women from playing any sport, as the hardline Islamist organisation had made it clear that they do not mind men playing cricket, pulling together a match in the capital Kabul shortly after foreign forces withdrew.

After the Taliban banned women from playing the sport, Cricket Australia had made it clear that they might not be hosting Afghanistan men’s team for the proposed one-off Test match in Hobart.
