IPL 2021: WATCH- "It's a very good decision," Rohit Sharma backs BCCI's decision of postponing IPL 14

IPL 14 was suspended after 29 games as several players were infected with COVID-19.

Mumbai Indians (MI) skipper Rohit Sharma backed BCCI for postponing  IPL 2021, calling it is as a ‘good decision’. 

COVID-19 outbreak in bio-bubble forced BCCI to postpone IPL 14 season with immediate effect. With Wriddhiman Saha and Amit Mishra returning COVID positive, the marquee tournament was postponed after 29 games. 

Apart from the duo of Saha and Mishra, Varun Chakravarthy and Sandeep Warrier of KKR along with Mike Hussey and Lakshmipathy Balaji, who were support staff members of CSK, also contracted the virus. 

With coronavirus entering the bio-bubbles, the decision to adjourn IPL after 29 games were indefinitely was taken on May 4.

Reacting to the postponement of IPL, defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) posted a video on their Instagram account. In the video skipper, Rohit Sharma along with teammates Jasprit Bumrah, Adam Milne, Jayant Yadav, and coaches Shane Bond and Robin Singh backed the decision to postpone the tournament for the safety of the players. 

“In the light of everything that is happening around the country, I think it's a very good decision,” Rohit Sharma said in a video posted on MI’s Instagram account. 

“Paltan, thank you for your unrelenting support throughout the tournament! Till we meet again, we hope you keep staying safe and strong. #OneFamily #MumbaiIndians #MI #IPL2021 #KhelTakaTak @MXTakaTak MI TV,” MI captioned the video. 

Coming to the tournament, MI after a shaky start was back to winning ways. With 4 wins out of their seven matches, the Rohit Sharma-led franchise was placed fourth on the points table.
