IPL 2021: Shikhar Dhawan hits another fifty as DC beat PBKS by 7 wickets to attain top spot in points table

Delhi Capitals chased down PBKS' 166/6 with 14 balls to spare.

Punjab Kings (PBKS) faced Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 29th match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on Sunday (May 2).

Invited to bat first, PBKS posted 166/6 in 20 overs on the back of stand-in captain Mayank Agarwal’s unbeaten 99 off 58 balls, which included 8 fours and 4 sixes.

Speedster Kagiso Rabada was the stand-out bowler for the Capitals, claiming 3 wickets by conceding 36 runs in his four overs.

Chasing the target, DC got off to a flying start as the dynamic duo of Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan put on 63 runs for the opening wicket in the powerplay.

Harpreet Brar drew the first blood for Punjab, dismissing Shaw on 22-ball 39 and it led to Steve Smith’s arrival at the crease. The pair of Dhawan and Smith then added 48 runs to put Delhi in a commanding position.

While Smith got out in the 13th over for 24 followed by the wicket of skipper Rishabh Pant (14) but Dhawan held the one end firmly. The left-handed opener (69* off 47 balls) completed the formalities in the company of Shimron Hetmyer (16* off 4 balls) and took Delhi over the line with 7 wickets in hand and 14 balls to spare.
