IPL 2021: RR hammer SRH by 55 runs; Morris, Mustafizur pick three wickets each

Jos Buttler starred with 124 and Sanju Samson made 48, as RR posted 220/3.

The 28th match of the IPL 2021 saw the Rajasthan Royals (RR) attaining a comprehensive victory over the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium on May 2, 2021, in the first match of the doubleheader.

SRH captain Kane Williamson had won the toss and chose to bowl first. David Warner was dropped from the team and Mohammad Nabi, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Abdul Samad were included in the playing XI. Rajasthan Royals gave a debut to Anuj Rawat.

The RR innings was all about Jos Buttler, who slammed 124 in 64 balls with 8 sixes and 11 fours to his name. He also added 150 runs for the second wicket with captain Sanju Samson, who made 48 with 4 fours and 2 sixes.

Thanks to the total decimation of SRH bowlers, RR posted 220/3 in 20 overs.

In reply, all top three batsmen of SRH, Manish Pandey (31), Jonny Bairstow (30), and Kane Williamson (20) got starts, but couldn’t carry on to make a big score and succumbed to the pressure of chasing down 221 runs. Chris Morris picked 3/22, while Mustafizur picked 3/20.

In the end, SRH finished on 165/8 and lost the match by 55 runs.
