IPL 2021: PBKS captain KL Rahul admitted in hospital with abdomen pain; to undergo surgery for appendicitis

Rahul has made 331 runs in 7 matches for PBKS thus far.

Punjab Kings (PBKS) captain KL Rahul might miss the remainder of the ongoing IPL 2021 season, as he was diagnosed with acute appendicitis last night on May 1. PBKS confirmed the same on their official Twitter account on Sunday.

Punjab Kings put out a statement mentioning that KL Rahul had experienced acute pain in his stomach last night and after medications not working, further testing revealed that he was suffering from acute appendicitis. He would need to undergo surgery to resolve the issue and has been transferred to the hospital for the same.  

If KL Rahul doesn’t manage to stage a comeback to the IPL 2021, it will be a huge blow for the side, which is placed fifth on the IPL 2021 points table with 3 wins in 7 matches. KL Rahul has been their highest run-getter with 331 runs in 7 matches with 4 half-centuries and the highest score of 91*. He averages 66.20 and has a strike-rate of 136.21.
