Ravindra Jadeja put on a show with the bat and ball as Chennai Super Kings (CSK) thrashed Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 69 runs in the 19th match of IPL 2021 at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on Sunday (April 25).

Batting at No. 5, Jadeja smashed 62 not out off 28 deliveries to propel CSK to a mammoth 191/4 before returning with the bowling figures of 3/13 in his four overs to restrict RCB to 122/9.

The highlight of Jadeja’s blazing knock was his assault on Harshal Patel in the last over of CSK’s innings. He whacked Harshal for 37 runs in the 20th over, which included 5 sixes and a four.

When asked about how he planned to go in the final over, Jadeja replied: “I was just looking to hit it hard. Mahi bhai (MS Dhoni) told me he would bowl somewhere outside off and luckily I connected.”

The CSK all-rounder also made a mark with his fielding brilliance as he affected a run-out with a direct hit to send Dan Christian back to the pavilion.

Jadeja provided an insight on how he pulls off the ‘tough job’ of an all-rounder that requires him to perform in all departments.

“I’ve been working hard on my fitness, skill, everything. It’s been a tough job being an all-rounder. You have to put in work in all the departments. During training I don’t work on all three (at a time). I work on my skills one day, train the other day and focus fitness on another,” he said at the post-match presentation ceremony.

CSK will hope Ravindra Jadeja continues his all-round display in the upcoming games as they aim to win a fourth IPL title.

Chennai Super Kings will take on Sunrisers Hyderabad in their next game on Wednesday (April 28) in Delhi.
