IPL 2021: "He used his variations really well," Irfan Pathan lauds Jaydev Unadkat's spell vs DC

Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan while lauding Rajasthan Royals (RR) pacer Jaydev Unadkat for his heroics in IPL 2021 encounter against Delhi Capitals (DC) said that his spell will give him a lot of confidence in the tournament. 

Rajasthan Royals left-arm pacer Jaydev Unadkat after missing the first match against Punjab Kings (PBKS) had a dream start to his IPL 14 campaign. 

The pacer ran through the Delhi Capitals’ top order, removing Prithvi Shaw, Shikhar Dhawan, and Ajinkya Rahane. 

Unadkat used his variations to the great extent and returned with excellent figures of 3 for 15 as Rishabh Pant-led franchise managed only 147 for 8 after being put into bat.

Speaking on ESPNCricinfo, former Indian pacer Irfan Pathan praised Jaydev Unadkat for his heroics against DC and said that when any bowler performs well it make him really happy. 

"Brilliant, brilliant by this left-armer. Especially what happened at the auctions. I always believe players don't ask for big money. If he is getting it, it's good for him. Look, when any bowler does well, it makes me really happy," Irfan Pathan told ESPNCricinfo. 

Pathan said that Unadkat used his variations, which worked for him. 

"Especially the way he bowled today. He used his variations really well, he was trying to hit the ball really, really hard, when he was trying to hit in the middle of the pitch. All the variations were working for him," he said. 

Irfan Pathan further said that Unadkat’s spell of bowling will give him a lot of confidence going ahead into the tournament and it would be really good for Rajasthan Royals. 

"When you get early wickets, it gives you a lot of confidence, and there is no looking afterward. This spell of his bowling will give him lot of confidence going forward in IPL. It will be really good for Rajasthan Royals,” he concluded. 

Sanju Samson-led franchise on account of David Miller’s 62 and a superb finish by Chris Morris chased the target of 148 runs on the fourth ball of the last over and register their first win of IPL 2021.
