R Ashwin has reacted to the news of a minor from Gujarat being arrested by police for issuing rape threats to Chennai Super Kings’ captain MS Dhoni’s 5-year-old daughter Ziva. Dhoni and Ashwin are currently in UAE playing in the ongoing IPL 2020 tournament.

Dhoni, former India captain, and his family members including his daughter received death and rape threats after CSK lost a close match to Kolkata Knight Riders in a match on October 7 in the ongoing IPL 2020. Screenshots of abuses were shared on social media by multiple users and even former cricketers condemned this shameful behavior from irate fans.

On Sunday, Gujarat police arrested a 16-year-old boy, who studies in the 12th standard and admitted to sending the threatening messages, from the Kutch region.

"The class 12 student from Namna Kapaya village was detained for questioning in connection with a disgusting threat message that was posted on the Instagram account of Dhoni's wife Sakshi Dhoni a few days back," Kutch (West) superintendent of police Saurabh Singh told reporters.

"We detained him for questioning after Ranchi police informed us that the accused hails from Mundra in Kutch district. We have confirmed that the boy is the same who had posted the message. He will be handed over to Ranchi police as the FIR was lodged in that city," the SP said.

After the 16-year-old's confessions, he will be taken into custody by the Ranchi police.

The arrest led to Delhi Capitals’ spinner R Ashwin saying that it was time to stop such menaces from happening again. He quoted a tweet from actor R Madhavan, who praised the police for their good job.

He tweeted, “????????????????.. Time to set these arm chair monsters straight.”
