Hetmyer's 45 was studded with five sixes.
Delhi Capitals’ star batsman Shimron Hetmyer was delighted to contribute with bat and on the outfield to the franchise’s huge 46-run win over Rajasthan Royals in the 23rd match of the ongoing IPL 2020 at Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Friday (9th October).
Hetmyer played a stunning match-defining knock of 45 off 24 balls and then took three brilliant catches in the outfield – which proved decisive for the Capitals against Royals to secure their fifth win in six matches to go on top in the ongoing 13th edition of the IPL 2020.
Following the enthralling victory, Hetmyer has also opened on the shot in the 17th over when he went for the third one after smashing two sixes to bring up his fifty, but the left-hander was caught at the boundary ropes by Rahul Tewatia off Kartik Tyagi in Sharjah.
Hetmyer told Marcus Stoinis who contributed 39 runs to DC’s success over RR, in a video posted on iplt20.com: “I felt good actually, after a while I got a long knock in the middle, it felt really great, yes I was trying to hit a six on the delivery I got out, my intentions were first to get a single but I felt the ball was in the slot so I went for it, but that's how it goes sometimes.”
Notably, Hetmyer has so far scored 91 runs for the DC in the ongoing IPL 13 at an average of 30.33.
It was a great win for DC before their big game against the defending champions Mumbai Indians on Sunday (11 October) at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
