Defending champions Mumbai Indians beat Kolkata Knight Riders by 49 runs in Abu Dhabi yesterday and registered their first win of IPL 2020. 

Earlier Kolkata Knight Riders won the toss and asked Mumbai Indians to bat first. Shivam Mavi provided them a good start by removing Quinton de Kock for just 1 run. Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav counter-attacked and their 90 runs partnership set the platform for a big score. Yadav got run out for 47 runs and Rohit Sharma brought up his fifty.

In the middle overs, Knight Riders tried to make a comeback but they couldn't and captain Sharma's 80 runs off 54 balls and cameos from Saurabh Tiwary, Hardik Pandya, and Kieron Pollard helped Mumbai to post 195/5 on the board.

In reply, Kolkata Knight Riders didn't have a good start and lost Shubman Gill and Sunil Narine cheaply. Dinesh Karthik and Nitish Rana tried to score quick runs but they couldn't. Andre Russell and Eoin Morgan too disappointed. In the end, Pat Cummins hit a few sixes, and eventually, Knight Riders finished on 146/9 and lost the match by 49 runs. For Mumbai Indians Trent Boult, Jasprit Bumrah, James Pattinson, and Rahul Chahar all took 2 wickets each.
