The 5th match of the IPL 2020 saw Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) opening their account against Mumbai Indians (MI), who had lost their first match to CSK. Dinesh Karthik won the toss and chose to bowl first.

Shivam Mavi (2/32) got the wicket of Quinton de Kock for 1, but then Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav (47) added 90 runs in quick time for the second wicket. Yadav was run out going for a suicidal second run with the score on 98 in 11th over. Saurabh Tiwary showed some good hitting in his 21 and Hardik contributed 18 runs before getting out hit wicket.

It was Rohit Sharma, who showed amazing hitting prowess to score 80 in 54 balls with 3 fours and 6 sixes. He was looking good for a century but got out due to exhaustion. MI ended up making 195/5 in their 20 overs.

However the talk of the town remained Pat Cummins, who returned to KKR fold after quite some time. Cummins, for whom KKR spent INR 15.50 crores, proved to be their most expensive bowler and didn’t even complete his 4 overs. He gave away 49 runs and was hit for 4 sixes and 3 fours.

For someone who is highly rated and ranked in world cricket and came into the IPL 2020 with many hopes, Cummins’ performance was much anticipated, but it proved to be an anticlimax as Rohit Sharma got stuck into him.

This led to the Twitterverse trolling him big time especially because of his big price and even members of the cricket fraternity joined in the fun.

Here the tweets of Twitterverse trolling Pat Cummins for his 49 runs in 3 overs:
