Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) mentor David Hussey has showered rich praise on his spin-bowling all-rounder Sunil Narine, hailing the in-form West Indian as “the best T20 bowler in the world” ahead of the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in the UAE.

Narine is coming into the IPL 2020 season on the back of a triumphant Caribbean Premier League (CPL 2020) campaign with Trinbago Knight Riders – for the side, the all-rounder scored 144 runs at a staggering strike-rate of 148.45 and took 6 wickets in his five innings in the tournament and Hussey reckoned the spinner will be at his most difficult to play in the IPL 2020.

The mystery spinner has been with KKR since 2012 and is the franchise’s highest wicket-taker with 122 wickets in 110 matches and former Australian all-rounder said Narine is arguably an asset and will be a key bowler for captain Dinesh Karthik in the IPL 13 – where the two-time champions start their campaign against the defending champions Mumbai on September 23 in Abu Dhabi.

Hussey told PTI, “Narine arguably is the best T20 bowler in the world. In any condition, he is one of the best players to have. Fortunately, he is at KKR, and he’ll be at his most difficult self to play and handle.”

The mentor signed off, “He will be one of the bowlers captain DK will throw the ball to whenever the opposition has the momentum. I’m sure Sunil Narine will win more often than not, those close battles.”
