The much-awaited cash-rich T20 league which was due to start on March 29, had to be postponed after COVID-19 cases started to rise rapidly in India and other parts of the world, virtually forcing everyone to be locked indoors to be safe.
The situation is yet to show any improvement in India with over 50,000 positive cases being reported daily, and that has forced Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to shift the tournament to UAE, where the disease has been controlled remarkably after the initial outbreak.
While the final dates are yet to be revealed, it is expected that the tournament will start on September 19 with the final to be played on November 8 or 10. The franchises are keenly awaiting the outcome of the IPL governing council meeting which is set to be held virtually on Sunday (August 2).

On Saturday, Kohli posted a picture of his new gear on his Instagram stories, where one can see as many as five new bats and a pair of red-colored pads.
Kohli has not done any outdoor training in nearly five months, and he clearly cannot wait now to get back to action in the hugely popular league. The franchises are planning to send the players to UAE via chartered planes by mid to late August to allow them time to train and get back into the groove before the tournament kicks off.
