By Jatin Sharma - 04 Jan, 2020

The Mumbai Indians (MI) are the first and only team so far to win the Indian Premier League (IPL) title four times. They became champions in 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2019, while made it into the playoffs in 2010, 2011 and 2014. Their current head coach is Mahela Jayawardene and Sachin Tendulkar acts as the mentor of the team as well, with Zaheer Khan being the director of operations.

The MI team has been one of the most dominant ones with an ongoing rivalry against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), who have been their bitterest opponents and lost to them twice in the finals. Sachin Tendulkar, Shaun Pollock, Harbhajan Singh, and Ricky Ponting have captained the franchise over the years, but Rohit Sharma at the helm changed the fortunes of the team, winning the title every alternate year from 2013.

The team has seen many amazing players over the years in Sanath Jayasuriya, Andrew Symonds, Glenn Maxwell, RP Singh, and others to go with the likes of Sachin Tendulkar and Yuvraj Singh, who have made the franchise an all-time greatest one in the history of T20 cricket.

Therefore, Team COC presents to you the all-time IPL XI for the Mumbai Indians (MI).

SACHIN TENDULKAR
M: 78| Runs: 2334| HS: 100*| SR: 119.81| 100s: 1| 50s: 13| 4s: 295| 6s: 29

Sachin Tendulkar was the icon player for the Mumbai Indians franchise at the start of IPL in 2008 and continued playing until 2013. He scored 2334 runs in 78 matches with one century, which came against Kochi Tuskers Kerala and made 13 half-centuries. He won the IPL in 2013 with MI and called time on his IPL career on a high.

LENDL SIMMONS
M: 29| Runs: 1079| HS: 100*| SR: 126.64| 100s: 1| 50s: 11| 4s: 109| 6s: 44

Lendl Simmons played from 2014-17 for Mumbai Indians and won the title twice in 2015 and 2017. He scored 1079 runs in 29 matches with one century and 11 fifties to his name. His aggressive batting at the start was a perfect foil for other a bit subdued partners and he made full use of the powerplay overs during his time at the MI camp.

ROHIT SHARMA (C)
M: 143| Runs: 3728| HS: 109*| SR: 130.62| 100s: 1| 50s: 28| 4s: 335| 6s: 143

Rohit Sharma was bought by the MI franchise in 2011, after the dissolution of the Deccan Chargers and it was perhaps the greatest buys they had made for a long time. Rohit was surprisingly handed the captaincy as well in 2013 after Ponting failed to ignite a spark in the franchise.

He led them to the title in that season and has done three times more. As a batsman, he has been very good, scoring 3728 runs in 143 matches with one century and 28 half-centuries to his name. He has hit 143 sixes as well for the blue franchise.

AMBATI RAYUDU (WK)
M: 114| Runs: 2416| HS: 81*| SR: 126.16| 100s: 0| 50s: 14| 4s: 205| 6s: 79

Ambati Rayudu joined the MI franchise in 2010 after getting amnesty from BCCI and stayed with the team till 2017. In 114 matches, he made 2416 runs with 14 half-centuries to his name at a strike rate of 126.16. He also kept wickets for a couple of years for the team and made 15 dismissals behind the stumps.

KIERON POLLARD
M: 148| Runs: 2755| HS: 83| SR: 146.77| 100s: 0| 50s: 14| 4s: 181|6s: 176| Wkts: 56| Eco: 8.85| BB: 4/44

Kieron Pollard was a huge buy for the Mumbai franchise in the 2010 auction and this has led to a fruitful partnership between the two sides. In almost 10 years since Pollard has made 2755 runs in 148 matches at a strike rate of 146.77 with 14 fifties. He also picked 56 wickets with his medium pacers for the team and has even captained in Rohit’s stead in odd matches. A true MI for life, Pollard is still an asset for the team, who has been fiercely loyal to the franchise.

KRUNAL PANDYA
M: 55| Runs: 891| HS: 86| SR: 146.06| 100s: 0| 50s: 1| 4s: 86|6s: 35| Wkts: 40| Eco: 7.16| BB: 3/14

Krunal Pandya followed his brother Hardik into the franchise and in 55 matches, has made 891 runs and picked 40 wickets with his all-round skills. Pandya played a marvelous inning in the 2017 IPL final against Rising Pune Supergiant and helped his team win a tight final by 1 run.

HARDIK PANDYA
M: 66| Runs: 1068| HS: 91| SR: 154.78| 100s: 0| 50s: 3| 4s: 72|6s: 68| Wkts: 42| Eco: 9.06| BB: 3/20

Hardik Pandya was a surprise pick by the franchise in 2015 auction but has been amazing for them. He came into highlight with his amazing hitting against CSK that year and has continued his form with 1068 runs in 66 matches at a strike rate of 154.78 and has picked 42 wickets also with his medium pacers, often breaking partnerships when needed.

Lasith Malinga is one of the best limited-overs bowlers in the world for a long time and has got a second wind to his career last year, with amazing performances in the 2019 World Cup and in T20Is at home. Malinga is the highest wicket-taker in IPL with 170 scalps to his name in 122 matches with the best bowling of 5/13 and an economy of 7.14. He took a break in 2018 and returned with vigor in 2019 edition, defending a handful of runs in the final against CSK in the last over, winning the fourth IPL title in the process, by just one run.

JASPRIT BUMRAH
M: 77| Wkts: 82| Eco: 7.55| BB: 3/7| 4Ws: 0| 5Ws: 0

Jasprit Bumrah was a rookie bowler bought in by the scouts in 2013 and was polished into a diamond by the support staff at the MI franchise into a world-class bowler. Bumrah has 82 wickets in 77 matches at an economy of 7.55 with the best bowling figures of 3/7.
