The 27-year-old leggie played for RR in IPL 2018 and 2019.
New Zealand spinner Ish Sodhi has returned to his IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals (RR) but this time as a spin consultant.
The Kiwi leg-spinner played for RR in the IPL in 2018 and 2019. He was released by the management ahead of the IPL 2020 season. He remained unsold in the auction that took place on December 19, 2019. He will now be joining the Royals for IPL 2020 not as a player but as a ‘spin consultant’. He will be working with bowling coach Sairaj Bahutule and COO Jake Lush McCrum.

Sodhi was excited to join RR for the IPL as he had a good time with them for the last couple of years. He had no hesitation in accepting the role in the team management as they always supported him. He is also hopeful of learning more with the consultant role at the age of 27.
He said in a statement, “Having played for two seasons for the Royals, I have formed a great level of understanding with all the people involved with the franchise, and they have always been very supportive of me. Therefore, I did not have to think twice when this opportunity was offered to me by the Royals’ management.”
“It is a fascinating opportunity for me, to be involved in the coaching staff at such a young age, while also supporting and learning about the operations of the business,” he added.
Sodhi currently has played 17 Tests, 31 ODIs and 40 T20Is for New Zealand and has picked 127 international wickets adding to his 9 in the IPL.
