By Jatin Sharma - 14 May, 2019

The Mumbai Indians (MI) created history by becoming four-time champions of the Indian Premier League, as they defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the finals of the IPL 2019 on May 12 in Hyderabad.

Rohit Sharma, the captain of the team became the first captain to win the title four times and the first player with five IPL titles, having won the trophy with Deccan Chargers in 2009. This was one of the tournaments, where MI didn’t perform at the best of their ability, but still topped the points table and bested the defending champions four times in the tournament.

Their best performers throughout the tournament were Hardik Pandya, Quinton de Kock, Kieron Pollard, Rahul Chahar, and Jasprit Bumrah. Keeping all these into consideration, Team COC presents to you the IPL Players Ratings for champions Mumbai Indians.

HARDIK PANDYA- 10/10
Hardik Pandya slammed 402 runs in 15 innings with a best of 91 at a strike rate of 191.42. He was their savior in death overs hitting 29 sixes and take MI’s mediocre scores to something better. He was also the go-to man for Rohit with the ball, as he picked 14 wickets with a best of 3/20 and economy of 9.17, proving that he will be the one to watch out in the upcoming ICC World Cup 2019.

JASPRIT BUMRAH- 9/10
Jasprit Bumrah picked 19 wickets in 16 games at economy 6.63 and proved why he is the best T20 bowler in the world today and the best bowler in death overs period. He was amazing in pressure situations as he was one who brought MI back in the finals after the 22 runs over from Krunal Pandya.

QUINTON DE KOCK- 8/10

Quinton de Kock slammed 529 runs as an opener for the MI and made sure that the team didn’t miss Rohit Sharma at the top much. He scored his runs at a strike rate of 132.91 and scored four fifties with a best of 81.

RAHUL CHAHAR- 7/10

Rahul Chahar picked 13 wickets in 13 matches and was more effective at both taking wickets and stemming the flow of runs than the more experienced Krunal Pandya. He gave away runs at 6.55 rpo and his best bowling was 3/19.

KIERON POLLARD- 6/10
Kieron Pollard showed why he has been retained by the MI team time and time again, despite losing his steam in the last couple of IPL seasons. He made 279 runs with a best of 83, in a match that was dead and buried for MI, but Pollard won it for them on his own against KXIP. He scored his runs at 156.74 strike rate and his 41* in the finals against CSK was the best innings in a final.

LASITH MALINGA- 6/10
16 wickets in 12 matches were what Malinga produced for MI on his return to the league as a bowler. He showed that though he has lost some pace, he has not lost the guile and smartness that came in handy when he had to defend 9 runs in the final over against CSK and produced a wicket off the last ball when 2 runs were what kept CSK from their fourth title win.

SURYAKUMAR YADAV- 6/10

Though Suryakumar Yadav produced 424 runs in 16 matches, with the help of 2 half-centuries; he didn’t look in control at all, but the team management kept their faith in them and he repaid them with a match-winning knock against CSK in the first qualifier.

ROHIT SHARMA- 5/10
Rohit Sharma somehow managed 405 runs in 15 matches for MI scoring two fifties with a strike rate of 128.57, but he was woefully out of form. But his captaincy skills were on the spot and his use of his bowlers and field placements when MI was defending low scores were admirable.

KRUNAL PANDYA- 5/10

Krunal, unlike his brother Hardik, had an offseason as he made just 183 runs with a strike rate of 122 and picked 12 wickets at an economy of 7.28.

JASON BEHRENDORFF- 3/10

Jason Behrendorff finally made his IPL debut for MI after missing the last season due to injury. He played 5 games and picked 5 wickets with an economy of 8.68.

YUVRAJ SINGH- 2/10
Yuvraj Singh had high hopes of making IPL 2019 a big season after been picked up by MI in the last round of auction. He started off well with a 53 against DC in Wankhede in a losing cause, but just 98 runs in 4 matches meant that he never got another chance, as MI put their money on a younger Ishan Kishan, who was fast in the field.

ALZARRI JOSEPH- 2/10

Alzarri Joseph had a debut to remember in IPL for MI, as he picked 6/12 in his first match ever against SRH, which is an all-time IPL record. But he was taken apart in his third game of the season against RR and suffered a serious shoulder injury which ended his season.

ISHAN KISHAN- 2/10

Ishan Kishan played 7 games and made 101 runs. Though he wasn’t much impressive with the bat, he made up for it with just one throw in the finals, that ran MS Dhoni out and sealed the match for CSK.

EVIN LEWIS- 1/10
Evin Lewis played 3 games and made 48 runs. He felt out of place batting in the middle order and couldn’t get going against spinners and under none powerplay rules.

SIDDHESH LAD- 1/10

Siddhesh Lad finally made his debut for MI after eons and scored 15 runs in the only match he played.

BEN CUTTING- 1/10

Ben Cutting played 3 games and scored 18 runs and picked 1 wicket.

ANUKUL ROY- 1/10

Anukul Roy surprisingly played just one game, bowled one over, gave away eleven runs and picked one wicket.

JAYANT YADAV- 1/10

Jayant Yadav played two games and picked one wicket.

MITCHELL McCLENAGHAN- 1/10
Mitchell McClenaghan played 5 games and took three wickets with a best of 3/40.

RASIKH SALAM DAR- 0/10

Rasikh Salam Dar from J&K played in the first match of MI in IPL 2019 and gave 42 runs in 4 overs.

BARINDER SRAN- 0/10

Barinder Sran played two games and failed to pick a wicket.

MAYANK MARKANDE- 0/10

Mayank Markande, who was the find of the season for MI in IPL 2018, played three games and picked just one wicket.
