The 53rd match of the IPL 2019 saw Delhi Capitals take on Rajasthan Royals at the Feroz Shah Kotla in a must-win game for RR, if they wished to have any hopes of making it into the playoffs. DC have already booked their spot in the top four teams.

Ajinkya Rahane, RR captain won the toss and chose to bat first and his decision came back to bite him. Ishant Sharma removed him for 2, Livingstone for 14 and Lomror for 8, while a runout saw Samson go back for 5. The fall of wickets didn’t stop there and then Mishra removed Gopal, Gowtham, and Binny for cheap. Only Riyan Parag showed some sense in batting against DC by making 50 (4 fours and 2 sixes) and becoming the youngest batsman in IPL history to make a half-century. RR finally ended their innings for 115/9.

For DC, Ishant Sharma (3/38) and Amit Mishra (3/17) were the picks of bowlers.

The Cricket Fraternity lauded DC bowlers for their efficient showing and also praised the young lad Parag for his staunch show with the bat.

Here are some tweets:

@rajasthanroyals want early flights home tonight, looking at their application in the middle. Though in fairness, they had to win by a country mile to keep the hopes of playoffs alive. If they had better ladder placement, would they have approached tonight differently?

#RR trying its best not to last 20 overs. They might be successful in the endeavour too. #DCvRR #IPL

Well, #RR aren't doing their slim qualification chances any good. Yes, the track is slow but not a 66-7 surface

Riyan Parag, youngest player to score a #VivoIPL halfcentury. He has such a gr8 temperament. Looks a natural ball striker, but paced his innings well on a difficult pitch today. 17yr old showing older colleagues the way. An exciting group of young Indian players coming through.

Riyan Parag playing in accordance with the old adage in cricket. Stay at the crease, runs will come. Well played again. ???? #RR #DC #DCvsRR

#RR Riyan Parag Das (50*) - after twice missing a fifty earlier in the tournament, today becomes the youngest at 17y-175d to register an #IPL fifty.#DCvRR#IPL2019

Something special about Riyan Parag. All of 17 but batting like he’s been playing at this level for 17 years... #DCvRR
