Veteran spinner Sunil Narine of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) attributed his team's decisive 29-run victory over the Gujarat Titans (GT) in the IPL 2026 on Saturday to discipline, preparation, and unwavering hard work.

Thanks to Finn Allen (93), Angkrish Raghuvanshi (82*), and Camron Green (52*), KKR posted 247/2 in 20 overs. In response, Shubman Gill made 85, and Sai Sudharsan and Jos Buttler also made fifties, but GT only managed 218/4 in 20 overs. KKR won the game by 29 runs and has stayed alive in the tournament.

After the game, Narine noted that the team's behind-the-scenes work was finally paying off. He was the Player of the Match for his 2/29 in 4 overs.

I think it comes with hard work. I think the guys have been preparing very well. I think we have been putting in the hard yards, so it’s showing. So hopefully we can continue and just continue winning cricket games, no matter what the tournament has in store for us. No, I think it’s all about planning what is in front of you. I think every game brings a different challenge, so you’re just trying to come out on top of that challenge," Narine said in the post-match presentation.

So today was this one; the next game might be different, but it’s all about trying to win the scenarios and win what is in front of you and not trying to overthink. I think if you overthink things, it gets a bit tougher than it normally is," he added.

He also talked about playing 200 IPL matches as he became the first overseas player and only the 13th cricketer overall to achieve the feat.

Hopefully, I play many more. I think it’s a blessing. It’s something that has gone a long way, and it’s a long journey, and the journey continues. So hopefully I can continue bringing these sorts of performances and playing as long as possible," he added.
