MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma, and Suryakumar Yadav reunited for an internet-breaking photograph at the iconic MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Friday (May 1).
The trio shared a frame during a practice session on the eve of the IPL 2026 clash between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians.
The picture, shared by Suryakumar on social media, caught everyone’s attention as it captured more than just a routine training interaction. His viral post symbolised a unique piece of Indian cricket history — three captains who led the national side to T20 World Cup titles.
Dhoni led a young Indian side to inaugural T20 World Cup win in 2007, while Rohit carried the legacy forward by guiding the team to second title in 2024. Surya added the most recent triumph in 2026, continuing India's dominance in the shortest format.
Ahead of the CSK vs MI clash on Saturday (May 2), Suryakumar spilled beans on the iconic picture, describing it as a "special moment" for him.
“It was a dream come true for me. I had dreamt about playing for India, winning matches for India but never thought of leading the country. I got the opportunity to lead and by the grace of God, that came in India and we won the tournament… It was a precious moment for me and I am sure for all Indians across the world,” Suryakumar said in a video shared by IPL on X.
“When were playing the first game with Chennai at the Wankhede Stadium, I had thought of creating this photograph (with Dhoni and Rohit) as it will be special memory for me and obliviously for everyone. So, I felt after coming here yesterday that there is a possibility. I got 1 per cent chance, I first asked Rohit bhai and then Mahi bhai, both of them said yes… Then I didn’t wait for a moment and quickly posed for the picture. It’s a very very special moment,” he added.
