Jamieson produced a brilliant in-swinging yorker to dismiss Sooryavanshi cheaply.
After Sooryavanshi hit a boundary during the second over, Jamieson responded with a full-length, in-swinging delivery that breached the youngster’s defense, shattering his stumps.
The lanky fast bowler celebrated the wicket animatedly in front of the 15-year-old, giving him a fiery send-off, a moment that went viral on the internet.
Speaking after the game, Jamieson acknowledged the threat posed by the "fearless wonder kid" and revealed the planning that went into his dismissal.
“I don’t think I’ll ever be so fearful of a 15-year-old kid in my life. But, yeah, we obviously did a bit of planning leading into the game, and it was just nice that it paid off. That is a huge moment. More eyes are on Sooryavanshi. Most teams are looking at their top two, especially, and you’ve got them off to fliers," Jamieson said in a video shared on the IPL website.
Jamieson highlighted DC’s crucial plan to quickly remove RR's opening pair, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, to curb their high-flying start.
He noted his Yorker and Mitchell Starc's high full toss were key to breaking the top-order momentum in the powerplay.
"For most teams looking at Rajasthan's side, it's their top two that have got them off to fliers. Starcy got one with a high full toss and I got one with a Yorker. It was nice to get away early and sort of I guess stem the flow a little in the power play," the Kiwi cricketer stated.
Jamieson expressed admiration for his new-ball partner Starc, hailing him as "world-class" operator.
"He is world class right, so whenever you can have one of those guys in your squad, it's a huge benefit. He came at the right time, we sort of needed to get a bit of a move on, on the points table. Nice to share the new ball with him, he is pretty surreal," he remarked.
Meanwhile, Kyle Jamieson has been reprimanded for his aggressive send-off act directed at Vaibhav Sooryavanshi.
According to the league’s statement, Jamieson breached Article 2.5 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which deals with “using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from another player in the match."
He received one demerit point and a warning, and accepted the sanction imposed by match referee Rajeev Seth.
