Bhuvneshwar Kumar became the first pacer to go past 200-wicket mark in IPL.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) clashed on April 5, 2026, in IPL 2026. RCB, coming off a win in their season opener against Sunrisers Hyderabad, hosted CSK at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad won the toss and opted to bowl first. However, that call proved costly as RCB batters took the CSK bowlers to cleaners. Virat Kohli made 28 off 18 balls, while Phil Salt smashed 46 from 30 balls, including three fours and two sixes.
Then the real storm came as Devdutt Padikkal scored 50 off 29 balls, while Rajat Patidar and Tim David tore into the bowlers with an unbeaten 99-run stand off 36 balls for the fourth wicket.
Patidar made 48* off 19 balls, hitting six sixes and a four, while Tim David smashed 70* off 25 balls, including three fours and eight sixes. RCB ended their 20 overs at 250/3.
CSK had a disastrous start to their batting innings, losing four of their top five batters for single-digit scores. Only Sarfaraz Khan managed a 25-ball 50. However, CSK's lower order wagged a bit, with Shivam Dube making 18.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar took 3/41 and became the first pacer and second bowler in the IPL to reach the 200-wicket milestone.
The cricket fraternity was all praises for the RCB team and lauded them for their thumping win over CSK.
